Lower limb prostheses are advanced medical devices designed to replace missing or amputated limbs below the knee or above the knee. These prostheses are custom-made to fit each individual's unique anatomy and provide support, mobility, and improved quality of life. They are typically composed of a socket, which connects to the residual limb, a pylon or rod that acts as a support structure, and a foot or ankle component that mimics the functionality of a natural limb. Modern lower limb prostheses employ cutting-edge materials, such as carbon fiber composites, which offer strength, durability, and flexibility, enabling users to perform a wide range of activities, from walking and running to engaging in sports and recreational pursuits.

Levels of Amputation We Fit For

Every level needs a different combination of components. Here's what each involves.

Above Knee

Above knee prostheses replace a limb amputated above the knee level, where the knee joint's function is no longer available. Three artificial limb types apply here.

Hip Disarticulation

Replaces the whole leg from the hip joint — socket, hip, knee, ankle, foot and pylon.

Trans-Femoral

Hip joint and part of the thigh remain — we replace the knee joint, ankle joint, foot and pylon.

Knee Disarticulation

Knee joint, shin, ankle joint and foot are replaced artificially. Most patients walk unaided with training.

Below Knee

Below knee prostheses replace a limb amputated below the knee level, where the ankle joint and foot are no longer available. Two artificial limb types apply here.

Transtibial

Part of the shin remains — ankle joint and foot are replaced with an artificial limb.

Ankle Disarticulation

The foot is removed at the ankle joint. A socket-and-foot prosthesis restores daily mobility.
